Dear Fellow Counselors:

The Arkansas Counseling Association has already begun planning the conference to be held November 11-13, 2009 in Fort Smith. We are excited and promise a conference like no others. We are also excited to invite our fellow counselors from the great state of Oklahoma to our conference. If you are a member of OCA you can register for our conference at the ArCA member rate. Registration information and session topics will be available online soon.

The theme will be "Facing the Giants." For the movie buffs out there...yes this is from a movie (we have obtained permission from Provident Films to use this title. This movie focuses on:

• A high school football coach who must battle the giants of fear and failure.
• He must search for a stronger purpose for his team.
• He dares to challenge his players to believe in the impossible on and off of the field.
• When faced with unbelievable odds, his team must step up to their greatest test of strength and courage.

If you take out the aspects of coaching and plug in the aspects of counseling...do you see the similarities? I think you will.

In the event you watch the movie prior to the conference...there is something I want to emphasize. The movie has a Christian focus. The ArCA Conference will not have that focus and in no way does the ArCA Conference Committee want to offend anyone with other religious beliefs.
